WITH five teams involved in Suffolk Junior Cup action this week, there was a slightly reduced division one programme in the league.
Three sides still remain in the county cup, following big wins for Pot Black, Spexhall and Hearts of Oak. Goals from Max Wall, Gavin Hunt, Rob Cooper, Adam Bird and a brace for Vinny Terry saw Danny McKinley's side hit Acton Crown for six in a convincing 6-0 win at Normanston Park.
In the all division one encounter at Walmer Road, Spexhall fired in four without reply over Kirkley and Pakefield A as goals from Karl Brennan, Asa Mcgill, Danny Milne and Lee Blackley booked their spot in the next round.
They'll be joined by defending league champions Hearts of Oak who beat Lawshall Swann 4-0 away. Corton White Horse Seltic lost narrowly 3-1 in the second round tie against Halesworth Town.
In the league, leaders Waveney Reserves maintained top spot with a 3-1 win over Oxford Arms with goals for Tom Beals, Ian Hunter and Ray Winney.
Barsham remain in second place after an entertaining 3-3 draw with the still unbeaten sixth placed Blundeston Magpies. The division's leading scorer Josh Woolnough hit a hat trick for the home side, and they led 3-1 until late in the game when the never-say-die Magpies hit back.
Norton Athletic moved up to fourth with a convincing 7-0 home demolition of 11th placed Mutford & Wrentham. Danny Hoadle's hat trick, Paul Harriman with two and goals for Andy Green and Tom Hudson sealed the win.
Ole Frank went one goal better as they picked up their first win in the top division in beating basement side Beccles Caxton Reserves 8-2 away.
Eighth placed Norton Reserves took the lead in their clash with league leaders AFC Star, with a goal from Gary Crisp, but the Star maintained their perfect start convincingly winning 8-1 in the end.
They are now six goals ahead of joint leaders Pakefield Re-United, with both sides boasting seven wins from their opening seven games. Goals from Harlow, Sutcliffe and two from Coote were enough to secure a fine 4-0 away win at fifth placed Gt Yarmouth Town Hall.
Ellingham move into third with a narrow 3-2 home win over bottom of the table Harleston Town Reserves. Crusaders remain in fifth after slipping to a 2-0 away win at seventh placed Bungay Town A.
Hopton move up to ninth after an entertaining 5-3 win over 13th placed Tudor, while Lowestoft International are 12th after a close 2-1 win over 11th placed Sole Bay United Reserves.
In division three, only one team still has a 100pc start to the new season - with former leaders Waveney Gunners still in second place with six wins from their first six games, as they narrowly beat fifth placed Corton White Horse Seltic Reserves 1-0.
Waveney A still top the table and are a point ahead of The Gunners, but they've played three games more. Victory on Saturday was secured for the leaders with a fine 6-2 away win at 13th placed Westhall.
Norman Warrior replace Kirkley & Pakefield B in third place, after the former beat 12th placed Factory Arms 3-1 away. The latter slip to fourth after drawing 2-2 away at tenth placed Oxford Arms Reserves.
In arguably the closest contest of the day, sixth placed Earsham shared ten goals in an entertaining 5-5 draw with eighth placed Blundeston Magpies Reserves.
Spexhall Reserves are up to seventh after a 7-0 away demolition at basement side Carlton Rangers. In the only other league game played in division three, Marquis of Lorne left it late to move up to ninth in the table with their second win of the season - a 2-1 home victory over 11th placed Mutford & Wrentham Reserves.

Notley's League Report 5th November
THE popular three division league continues to gather pace as a full fixture list has been completed in the past fortnight following the recent cancellation of matches.
To highlight this, only three teams from the 41 sides across the three divisions have managed to play eight league games thus far as the season moves into November.
The current campaign is also proving to be a tough one to call in all three leagues, with just six teams now boasting unbeaten records – and only three of these have unblemished 100pc credentials.
In division one, Waveney Reserves head the table with four wins and two draws from their six games. Champions Hearts of Oak continue to threaten and have moved ominously into third place, just a point behind the leaders with a game in hand. Two goals from Kirk Gowing and Joel Bray’s strike were enough to seal a 3-0 home win over Spexhall, who are now fifth.
Second-placed Barsham slipped to their second league defeat of the campaign with a 2-4 home defeat against seventh-placed Oxford Arms. Adam White’s brace for the home side wasn’t enough as Danny Newrick hit a hat trick, with fellow striker Ash Leggett also on the mark for The Arms.
Fourth placed Norton Athletic also fell to their second league defeat at home to a continually impressive Blundeston Magpies side. Andy Green and Paul Harriman had given the home side the lead, but eighth placed Blundeston – who despite being unbeaten have slipped down the table after having three points deducted – hit back with some late goals to win 3-2.
Sixth-placed Pot Black beat bottom of the table Ole Frank 5-1 with goals for Adam Bird, Ian Wilson, Gavin Hunt and two for Vinny Terry.
Corton White Horse moved up to ninth with a convincing 7-1 win over Beccles Caxton Reserves. In the only other match played between two first division one sides – Mutford & Wrentham and Kirkley and Pakefield A – the visitors progressed to the next round of the cup after winning 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw. Former K&P A boss Shaun Norman was the hero, as he excelled in goal with two shoot-out saves.
AFC Star and Pakefield Re-United continue to shine at the top of division two with both boasting six wins from their six league games.
AFC Star scored a last minute winner to beat sixth-placed Suffolk Punch 3-2. Pakefield Re-United meanwhile kept the pressure on with a 4-0 win at home to 10th placed Sole Bay United Reserves, courtesy of an own goal and others for Harlow, Chapman and Hone.
Third placed Ellingham narrowly beat 11th placed Hopton 3-2, with goals from M Griffen, O Rushmere and D Fowles. Fourth placed Crusaders drew 1-1 with bottom of the table Harleston Town Reserves, fifth placed Great Yarmouth Town Hall had a good 5-2 away win at 12th placed Tudor.
There was a thriller at Norton, as the village side’s reserves team were 3-1 down against Lowestoft International, but battled back to draw 4-4 – with a hat trick for Daniel Robinson and a goal from Steve Rivett – in a result that puts Norton reserves in seventh and Lowestoft International first from bottom.
In the only other league game played, Corton A moved up to ninth after beating eight placed Bungay Town A 3-1.
In division three, only one team has maintained a 100pc start to the new season – with former leaders Waveney Gunners now in second place with five wins from their five games, as The Gunners went nap at seventh-placed Spexhall Reserves winning 5-0.
Waveney A top the table and are a point ahead of The Gunners, but they’ve played three games more. Victory on Saturday was secured for the leaders with an 8-1 demolition of 10th placed Oxford Arms Reserves.
Kirkley & Pakefield B continue to move upwards and the youngsters are now third, three points behind the leaders, after a 4-1 home win over 12th placed Marquis of Lorne – with two goals for Luke Graham and others from Tom Banger and Elliot Reynolds.
Corton White Horse Seltic Reserves are also three points behind the leaders in fourth after a 1-1 draw with eighth placed Blundeston Magpies Reserves.
Norman Warrior are fifth after a 2-0 home win over ninth placed Mutford & Wrentham Reserves. Earsham’s fine 4-0 away win at first from bottom Westhall moves them up to sixth.
In the only other league game played in division three, Factory Arms moved up to 11th place with a 5-1 home win over bottom of the table Carlton Rangers.

Council pitch games off again
09 October 2009
ALL football matches that are due to take place on council-run pitches in Waveney this weekend have again been postponed.
Waveney District Council and operational partners Waveney Norse were forced to postpone games last weekend due to unusually hard surfaces, and this weekend the Notley's Lowestoft and District Saturday League and the Lowestoft Sunday League schedules are set to be hit again.
A Waveney District Council spokesman said: “Despite some rain during the past seven days, pitch conditions have not improved.”
Last weekend, the conditions presented “a genuine risk to player safety,” as well as “longer-term damage to the pitches” themselves, and with not enough rain this week, it seems local amateur footballers will have to wait longer to play on the council-run pitches again.

NOTLEY'S LOWESTOFT AND DISTRICT LEAGUE ROUND UP
A MAJORLY reduced programme saw just five league games and one cup match played as the weather took its toll on the Notley's Lowestoft and District League.
With all football matches that were due to take place on council-run pitches last weekend postponed last Friday >, Waveney District Council and operational partners Waveney Norse confirmed the fixtures were cancelled because of the lack of rain in recent months.
The unusually hard surfaces were highlighted as presenting “a genuine risk to player safety,” as well as “longer-term damage to the pitches” themselves.
Waveney Operations Manager Andy Wilson-Sutter said: “The surfaces are bare and bone hard and there is no question of games going ahead with conditions as they are. “Naturally we are frustrated that we have been forced in to this decision and obviously we will work closely with the leagues to ensure any backlog of games are accommodated before the end of the season,” he added.
However, there was some football played on school and village pitches. And in all three divisions those games that were played have affected the top of the tables.
New leaders in division one are Barsham, after they made it four matches unbeaten in another demolition - this time beating bottom of the table Beccles Caxton Reserves 8-1.
The division's leading goalscorer Josh Woolnough fired in a four-goal salvo, with further goals for S King, A Williams, M Howard and N Holmes, as Barsham now head the table on goal difference ahead of Spexhall and previous leaders Waveney Reserves.
Spexhall took advantage of other games not being played to move up to second place as Paul Batley solitary strike gave them a 1-0 win at Corton White Horse Seltic, who remain second bottom.
In division two, Pakefield Re-United moved three points clear at the top of the table after inflicting the first defeat on previous leaders 2-1 at the village side with goals for Stokes and John Attridge.
In the only other game played in the division, Suffolk Punch moved into third after a fine 9-2 away win at tenth placed Tudor.
In the only game played in division three, previous leaders Waveney A slipped into second after a 3-0 defeat at sixth placed Spexhall Reserves.
The unbeaten Waveney Gunners were the beneficiaries of this as they returned to the top of the table.
In the only other match played involving Notley's Lowestoft and District League sides, Norton Athletic Reserves beat South Walsham Reserves 3-1 (D Robinson 2, S Hobart) in the Norfolk Primary Cup first round replay.

WITH the football season approaching the first full month of completed fixtures tomorrow, already a number of trends seem to be emerging.
