Notley's League Report 09th May

With another season completed here is a quick run down of all the winners and losers.

The first division saw Hearts of Oak retain their crown, however the gap was just 4 points in the end as they were pushed all the way by Pot Black who have made great strides this season.

Hearts also retained the KO cup by defeating Waveney Res. 3-2 in the final to continue to be known as the dominant force within the league. Norton Athletic finished 3rd with FC Hearts having a fine season coming in 4th.

Spexhall and Barsham both recovered after poor starts to finish 5th and 7th respectively with Wrentham having a poor end to the season finishing 6th after being among the early leaders. As the other end Sole Bay United Res. finish bottom with Oxford Arms above them and Caxton Res. maintaining their status.

The second division saw runaway leaders in Corton White Horse Seltic who cantered to the title by a 14 point margin. The battle for 2nd was interesting with Ole Frank, Norton Res. and Pakefield all in the running for long spells but it was Ole Frank who got the honour by two points from Norton Res.

At the other end Oxford Arms Res struggled and finished adrift at the foot with Waveney Gunners filling the other relegation spot as Ellingham got the final days points they needed to survive.

The third division was dominated by the new teams with Suffolk Punch winning their battle with GY Town Hall to claim the title and the John Moore Shield.

Harleston Town Res. finished 3rd with Lake Lothing closing in but they had to settle for 4th.

Factory Arms finished bottom but can hold their heads high with their never say die attitude.

The league presentation is to be held at Notley’s on Friday 29th May.

League Report 2nd May.

With just a couple of games to be completed all the domestic issues have now been decided.

On Friday night Hearts of Oak completed their second successive double as they won the Brighty Driving Tuition KO Cup final 3-2 at Crown Meadow, Lowestoft in a close game with Waveney Res.

All the league issues were already resolved with runners up Pot Black signing off with a 4-0 midweek win at 3rd placed Norton and a final day 3-0 win at Caxton Res and the two clean sheets helping them to the best defensive record in the entire league.

Spexhall’s final day 9-0 rout at FC Hearts sees them finish the season in 5th place as they pip Wrentham on goal difference following their 3-3 draw at Barsham who finish comfortable in mid-table.

Oxford Arms netted a final point against Blundeston Magpies after their 1-1 draw.

The second division saw a midweek defeat for champions White Horse Seltic as they crashed 5-2 to Norton Res, but they bounced back on Saturday winning 3-2 in their derby with Corton A. Ole Frank will finish as runners up as they got the win they needed 5-1 at Hopton White Hart and Norton Reserves will finish third in what has been a good season for them.

Ellingham will stay in the division as they won 3-1 at Tudor FC a result that sends Waveney Gunners to the third division whilst Pakefield Re-United signed off with a good 5-2 win against Crusaders as they finish 4th and 6th respectively.

The third division was settled a couple of weeks ago and champions Suffolk Punch ended with a 4-1 win against Kirkley & Pakefield B to finish 7 points clear of Town Hall.

Harleston Town Res. netted the point they needed to secure third as they drew 1-1 at Spexhall Res. whilst Lake Lothing completed a good season by winning 5-1 against Marquis of Lorne to finish 4th.
