League Report 11th December

After two weeks of total inactivity this week saw the return of a full fixture list.

We will start in the Suffolk Junior Cup whereby we had three representatives remaining but after today’s games that is now just one being Hearts of Oak who won narrowly 2-1 against Bramford Road Old Boys.

Spexhall lost their derby game against Wenhaston 2-1 whilst Oxford Arms lost for the first time this season bowing out 4-2 against Mendlesham who will now entertain Hearts in the quarter final.

In the Suffolk Primary Cup there were victories for DK Consultants whom defeated AFC Crowley 3-0, Waveney Reserves who beat Leiston St Magaret Reserves 5-2 and Waveney Gunners who were handed a walkover following the withdrawal of scheduled opponents Cockfield United Reserves.

Mutford & Wrentham progressed with a fine 6-2 victory against Barons 1985 whilst Spexhall Reserve were on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline at Trimley Red Devils.

Hopton FC won through to the quarter finals of the Norfolk Primary Cup as they returned from South Yarmouth with a 4-2 success.

Onto league affairs and Norton Athletic move up to second place following a comprehensive 7-1 win at Kirkley & Pakefield A. Scorers for Norton were Rory Spinks with 3 and doubles for Tom Hudson and Steven Hak. They now sit 6 points adrift of leaders Oxford and play them this week.

Blundeston Magpies scored 8 unanswered goals at bottom side Corton White Horse Seltic and now sit 6th whilst Barsham and Town Hall shared the points following their 2-2 draw.

The second division saw Bungay Town A win 6-2 against Waveney a result that sees them up to third place.

Elsewhere Earsham and Ellingham battled hard for a 1-1 draw in their local derby and the same result occurred at Norton Reserves in their match against Telecom Rovers. Telecom missed a penalty before Norton looked to have taken the points by taking the lead through Aaron Hacon in the 86th minute however Telecom Rovers hit back immediately to take a share of the spoils.

The third division saw the top two Corton White Horse Seltic Reserves and FC Eastport both pick up wins and increase the gap. White Horse defeated Mutford & Wrentham Reserves 4-0 whilst Eastport beat Carlton Rangers 5-3 and with third placed Marquis of Lorne slipping so a 2-1 reverse against Kirkley & Pakefield B the top 3 now sees Corton on 30 pts, Eastport on 25 and MOL on 22 with Corton having played a game more.

Elsewhere in the division Harleston Town Reserves picked up a 5-1 win against Factory Arms, Royal Oak won a 9 goal thriller against Oxford Arms Reserves 5-4 and Blundeston Magpies completed a good day for the club as they beat basement side Lowestoft Albion 7-0.

Finally in the division Southwold Town Reserves and Westhall shared the points following a 1-1 draw.
