Norton's commanders

A POPULAR presentation evening was hailed as a success as the respective champions and runners-up in the Notley's Lowestoft and District Saturday league celebrated their achievements.

Last Friday's evening at sponsors Notley's PH was organised by the Lowestoft League, with trophies handed out to the top sides in the respective three divisions.

And presentations were also made to the Lowestoft and District Referees Association branch, as the best officials were honoured for their refereeing skills in the Saturday league season.

Taking pride of place at the Notleys Lowestoft & District League presentation were Division 1 champions Norton Athletic with runners-up Oxford Arms also pictured.

After changing their name this season, AFC Star triumphed in division two as they lifted the champions trophy ahead of runners-up Great Yarmouth Town Hall, who sealed a remarkable rise into the op flight for next season by virtue of back-to-back promotions.

After relegation last year, division three champions Waveney Gunners will return to division in next season's campaign along with runners- up Spexhall Reserves.

The referee of the year award was handed out to Stephen Hammersley, with Carl Evans collecting the most improved referee, Tony Wickenden the top new referee and young referee of the year Callum Walchester.
