League Report 19th March

Hearts of Oak were the main beneficiaries on a day that saw the top 4 all drop points as the title race takes another twist.

Leaders Oxford Arms had a tough looking game against in form Pot Black. The match ended all square at 1-1 but Pot Black will rue a missed penalty and the fact they conceded a 93rd minute leveller.

Second placed Norton Athletic failed to take advantage as they lost 3-1 at home to Barhsam but Norton will rue the fact that they had 4 players unavailable and then picked up two injuries in the warm up meaning they played the entire match with a 51 year old in defence and their 60 year old chairman up front.

Hearts of Oak meanwhile put themselves back in the title hunt by disposing of third placed Waveney Reserves 5-1 with goal from Kirk Gowing 2, Jon Williams 2 and Zac Coleman.

Elsewhere the points were shared between Blundeston Magpies and Gt Yarmouth Town Hall 2-2 which was also the result of the Kirkley & Pakefield A v Pakefield Re-United match.

The top three in the second division all picked up three points and all with 3 goal winning margins.

DK Consultants beat Crusaders 3-0 whilst second placed Hopton returned from Bungay Town A 4-1.

Waveney Gunners in third won 3-0 at Telecom Rovers who now slip into the relegation zone as Norton Athletic Reserves the only team in the bottom six to win picked up three points after defeating Beccles Caxton Reserves 5-0.

Spexhall Reserves are up to fourth after their 2-0 win over Lowestoft International whilst Mutford & Wrentham won 3-1 over Waveney A and Earsham beat bottom side Ellingham by the same score.

The leaders of the third division Corton White Horse Seltic lost for the second time as they were beaten 3-0 by FC Eastport who are now just 4 points behind.

Sandwiched in-between are Mutford & Wrentham Reserves who returned from Southwold Town Reserves with a 3-2 success.

Factory Arms continue to pick up the points this week beating Carlton Rangers 2-1 whilst Royal Oak and Westhall battled out a thrilling 3-3 draw.

The points were also shared between Blundeston Magpies Reserves and Oxford Arms Reserves 2-2 whilst Lowestoft Albion lost 6-0 to Kirkley & Pakefield B.
