Three through in Suffolk Junior Cup

WITH five teams involved in Suffolk Junior Cup action this week, there was a slightly reduced division one programme in the league.

Three sides still remain in the county cup, following big wins for Pot Black, Spexhall and Hearts of Oak. Goals from Max Wall, Gavin Hunt, Rob Cooper, Adam Bird and a brace for Vinny Terry saw Danny McKinley's side hit Acton Crown for six in a convincing 6-0 win at Normanston Park.

In the all division one encounter at Walmer Road, Spexhall fired in four without reply over Kirkley and Pakefield A as goals from Karl Brennan, Asa Mcgill, Danny Milne and Lee Blackley booked their spot in the next round.

They'll be joined by defending league champions Hearts of Oak who beat Lawshall Swann 4-0 away. Corton White Horse Seltic lost narrowly 3-1 in the second round tie against Halesworth Town.

In the league, leaders Waveney Reserves maintained top spot with a 3-1 win over Oxford Arms with goals for Tom Beals, Ian Hunter and Ray Winney.

Barsham remain in second place after an entertaining 3-3 draw with the still unbeaten sixth placed Blundeston Magpies. The division's leading scorer Josh Woolnough hit a hat trick for the home side, and they led 3-1 until late in the game when the never-say-die Magpies hit back.

Norton Athletic moved up to fourth with a convincing 7-0 home demolition of 11th placed Mutford & Wrentham. Danny Hoadle's hat trick, Paul Harriman with two and goals for Andy Green and Tom Hudson sealed the win.

Ole Frank went one goal better as they picked up their first win in the top division in beating basement side Beccles Caxton Reserves 8-2 away.

Eighth placed Norton Reserves took the lead in their clash with league leaders AFC Star, with a goal from Gary Crisp, but the Star maintained their perfect start convincingly winning 8-1 in the end.

They are now six goals ahead of joint leaders Pakefield Re-United, with both sides boasting seven wins from their opening seven games. Goals from Harlow, Sutcliffe and two from Coote were enough to secure a fine 4-0 away win at fifth placed Gt Yarmouth Town Hall.

Ellingham move into third with a narrow 3-2 home win over bottom of the table Harleston Town Reserves. Crusaders remain in fifth after slipping to a 2-0 away win at seventh placed Bungay Town A.

Hopton move up to ninth after an entertaining 5-3 win over 13th placed Tudor, while Lowestoft International are 12th after a close 2-1 win over 11th placed Sole Bay United Reserves.

In division three, only one team still has a 100pc start to the new season - with former leaders Waveney Gunners still in second place with six wins from their first six games, as they narrowly beat fifth placed Corton White Horse Seltic Reserves 1-0.

Waveney A still top the table and are a point ahead of The Gunners, but they've played three games more. Victory on Saturday was secured for the leaders with a fine 6-2 away win at 13th placed Westhall.

Norman Warrior replace Kirkley & Pakefield B in third place, after the former beat 12th placed Factory Arms 3-1 away. The latter slip to fourth after drawing 2-2 away at tenth placed Oxford Arms Reserves.

In arguably the closest contest of the day, sixth placed Earsham shared ten goals in an entertaining 5-5 draw with eighth placed Blundeston Magpies Reserves.

Spexhall Reserves are up to seventh after a 7-0 away demolition at basement side Carlton Rangers. In the only other league game played in division three, Marquis of Lorne left it late to move up to ninth in the table with their second win of the season - a 2-1 home victory over 11th placed Mutford & Wrentham Reserves.
