League Report 6th December

The main focus this week was the Primary cup and the league still has 6 teams left in at the 4th round stage.

Starting with the Norfolk Primary Cup where both remaining representatives will go into Friday’s draw as Gt Yarmouth Town Hall defeated Prostar Windows 6-2 helped by a hat-trick from Rob Leggett.

Norton Athletic Res. faced a tough looking match with Norwich Medics but won through 3-1 to keep up their fine form.

In the Suffolk Primary Cup 4 sides made it through. Tudor FC were handed a walk over against St Clements Hospital and will now entertain The Salvation Army.

Ole Frank won the battle of the leagues sides as they cruised past Pakefield Re-United 6-1 and will now travel to Clare Town Res.

Waveney Res. who must be hotly fancied to go far dumped out Needham Market Veterans 9-1 with Ray Winney helping himself to 4 goals, they will now travel to Albion Mills whilst Corton White Horse Seltic defeated Tacket Street Boys Brigade Old Boys 3-0 and will now play Stanton Res. at home in the 4th round.

Of the teams bowing out Caxton Res. lost 3-1 to Coplestonians A, Lake Lothing lost 8-2 to Cockfield United Res. and Suffolk Punch lost on penalties after holding Henley Athletic Res. to a 3-3 draw AET.

Onto league matters and Hearts of Oak recorded another big win as they beat Barsham 8-0 with Kirk Gowing getting half of the goals.

Norton Athletic leapfrogged Blundeston Magpies following their 6-0 win which saw Ryan Hills score his 200th competitive goal. Magpies battled on gamely despite starting with ten and finishing with 9 men.

FC Hearts remain in second despite losing 4-3 to Pot Black and Spexhall are up a place following their fine 6-3 win against Kirkley & Pakfield A.

The final fixture saw Oxford Arms and Sole Bay United Res. share 6 goals.

The second division saw some big scores with Crusaders winning 10-4 against Lowestoft International. Hopton White Hart won 5-3 against Corton A to join 3 other clubs on 16 points.

A change of manager seems to have inspired Oulton Broad Res. who won again, this time beating an in-form Bungay Town A 2-1 whilst finally Ellingham jumped a couple of places after beating bottom side Oxford Arms Res. 4-1.
The third division saw all the top sides in cup action with Harleston’s match being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Earsham move into mid-table after their 7-0 rout against Factory Arms. Above them are Kirkley & Pakefield B after an impressive 3-0 win against Spexhall Res.

The final two games saw Magpies Res. & Waveney A, Seltic Res. & Westhall both finish 1-1 with no changes to their league positions.
