Waveney: Football matches called off

WAVENEY District Council has announced that all football fixtures on council-run pitches this weekend have been postponed because of the snow.

After an inspection of council-run pitches yesterday (Thursday), a decision was made to postpone all matches due to played this weekend.

Operations manager, Andy Wilson-Sutter, of Waveney Norse's, operational partners of the council, said: “It hasn't taken very long to make a judgement. Matches on all council pitches, Dip Farm, Normanston Park and Beccles are postponed for this coming weekend and representatives of the Saturday and Sunday league's are being contacted directly.

“We will provide regular updates on conditions and remain in direct contact with the leagues. We will be working closely with them to ensure any backlog of games is accommodated when conditions improve.”
