League Report 09th October

It’s as you were at the top of the first division as both Hearts of Oak and Oxford Arms picked up wins to extend their 100% records so far this term.

Hearts were up against Corton & Ole Frank and won 4-2 with Steven Shipley and Jake Arms helping themselves to two goals each whilst Oxford Arms won by the odd goal of 5 against Blundeston Magpies as they conceded their first goals of the season.

Waveney Reserves jump above Norton who were in county cup action thanks to their fine 5-2 win at Barsham. For Barsham it was their 4th defeat of the campaign as they have now lost against the top four sides.

Pot Black picked up a narrow 3-2 win against Kirkley & Pakefield A thanks to strikes from Glenn Fletcher x2 and Gavin Hunt.

Spexhall were in the goals once again this time they struck 8 against Pakefield Re-United who could only manage one in return.

The second division sees new leaders as Mutford & Wrentham picked up a big 8-2 win against bottom side Norton Athletic Reserves a result which sees them move above morning leaders DK Consultants on goal difference following their first dropped points as they were held to a 3-3 draw at Crusaders.

Waveney Gunners also climb above DK courtesy of goal difference following their 4-2 win against Lowestoft International.

Hopton remain in the top 5 despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Earsham whilst Spexhall Reserves continue to climb the table after beating Bungay Town A 5-1 at the Maltings.

Ellingham suffered a comprehensive 5-0 reverse at Telecom Rovers whilst there was a second win for Beccles Caxton Reserves who edge past Waveney A 3-2.

The third division is now headed by Corton White Horse Seltic who maintained their perfect start by beating Factory Arms as did Marquis of Lorne who scored the only goal against morning leaders Kirkley & Pakefield B.

Mutford & Wrentham Reserves are now up to third following their three points in a seven goal thriller at Westhall whilst there was another heavy defeat for Lowestoft Albion who went down 15-0 to fellow new boys FC Eastport.

Carlton Rangers and Blundeston Magpies Reserves shared six goals whilst Oxford Arms Reserves won 7-0 against Southwold Town Reserves who continue to struggle.

Finally Harleston Town Reserves picked up the points following their narrow 2-1 win at Royal Oak.

Moving onto the Norfolk Junior Cup and sadly the leagues interested ended at the second round stage as Norton Athletic bowed out 2-1 to Yarmouth side Norfolk and Chance and with it came the end of a brilliant unbeaten run of 24 games. Also Gt Yarmouth Town Hall were beaten 1-0 at Shipdham.
