League Report 16th October

This week saw most of the leagues top flight sides in Suffolk Junior Cup 1st round action and the league showed its quality by coming out on top in ties against other leagues sides.

We start with Blundeston Magpies who picked up a fine 2-0 win over Anglian Combination second division side Southwold Town.

Spexhall also knocked out Combination division two opponents as they scored the solitary in their game against Beccles Caxton.

Hearts of Oak eased through 6-0 against SIL Division Two side AFC Hoxne. Jake Arms and Jonny Williams helped themselves to two goals each with Kirk Gowing and Bobby netting the others.

Halesworth Town from the SIL needed extra time to defeat Corton & Ole Frank 2-1.

In the all league affairs Pot Black’s Gary Boyd netted the only goal at Corton White Horse Seltic whilst Oxford Arms continue their fine season by running out 3-1 victors against Kirkley & Pakefield A.

The league also saw two of the three remaining sides progress in the Norfolk Primary Cup.

There was a season’s first win for Norton Athletic Reserves who won through at Buxton Reserves 4-1 with goals from James Askew x2, Dominic Moore and Gary Crisp.

Hopton edged past Redgate Rangers in a 4-3 thriller whilst Earham were heavily beaten 6-0 by South Yarmouth.

Onto league affairs and Norton’s long unbeaten league record came to an end as they were surprisingly beaten 3-2 by Pakefield Re-United. Norton have been severely hit by injuries of late and this week with both sides scraping a bare 11 veteran Nigel Hudson had to bail the side out and picked up both goals in doing so.

Waveney Reserves continued their good form by winning 3-2 against Town Hall.

In the second division DK consultants claimed the three points following a high scoring 6-5 win against Spexhall Reserves and as a result remain just behind the early pacesetters Waveney Gunners whom defeated Beccles Caxton Reserves 3-1.

Waveney A were comfortable 6-0 winners at Telecom Rovers whilst two games ended all square. Bungay Town A shared a 1-1 draw with Crusaders whilst Ellingham and Lowestoft International scored 3 goals apiece in their game

Mutford & Wrentham Reserves continue to head the table in division three as they won 4-0 at Carlton Rangers.

FC Eastport are up to second climbing above their opponents Corton White Horse Seltic Reserves after beating them 3-2.

Previously unbeaten Marquis of Lorne succumbed to a 2-1 defeat by Oxford Arms Reserves whilst Kirkley & Pakefield B are proving had to beat after holding Westhall to a 1-1 draw.

The final two games in the division were saw high scoring home wins as Blundeston Magpies Reserves beat Southwold Town Reserves 11-0 and Factory Arms beat the young Lowestoft Albion side 14-1.

Is that a mis-print that Gary Boyd scored? The last time he scored he had a head full of dark hair!

roving reporter, just to confirm there is no misprint, it is in fact true but i do confess to it being a miss hit cross, badly dealt with by sparrow in goal!
