League Report 24th Jan 09

This weeks top game was at Norton Subcourse where the leagues top two were due to meet however for the second time this season the game was abandoned due to a nasty injury to Norton’s Tom Hudson which required an ambulance. Only 7 minutes were played with Norton winning 1-0 at the time.

Pot Black took advantage of the abandonment to move into second place as they netted a late winner through debutant Vinny Terry to win 2-1 at Kirkley & Pakefield A.

FC Hearts go above Norton on goal difference following their fine 5-2 win at Spexhall and with games against Hearts of Oak and Norton in the next two weeks their destiny will become much clearer.

Wrentham bounced back from lasts weeks defeat to beat Oxford Arms 3-1 whilst the final fixture in the division saw Waveney Res. collect the 3 points by beating bottom side Sole Bay United Res. 6-0.

The final match in the division was the local derby at Beccles were a strengthed Caxton Res. side went down 3-1 to Barsham.

The second division sees White Horse Seltic move 6 points clear of Ole Frank as they beat Pakfield Re-United 4-1.

Hopton White Hart are now sitting in 4th place following their 4-1 win against Tudor. Crusaders move up the table after their 2-0 win against Oulton Broad & Notley’s Res.

There was a 7 goal thriller at Corton where Corton A defeated Bungay Town A 4-3 whilst Waveney Gunners emphatic 9-1 win at Ellingham sees them leapfrog over their opponents.

LIFC eased to the 3 points against Oxford Arms Res. where they won 6-1 whilst in the Norfolk Primary Cup, Norton Athletic Res. involvement ended as they slumped to a 4-2 reverse at GY Albion despite holding a 2-1 lead early in the second half.

The top 3 in the third division have opened up a 14 point gap between 3rd and 4th as they all won again. Leaders Town Hall narrowly defeat Kirkley & Pakefield B 2-1 whilst Suffolk Punch saw off an in form Waveney A 3-0 to preserve their maximum points record.

Harleston Town Res. went nap at Marquis of Lorne winning 5-0. Lake Lothing are now 4th following their fine 3-2 success against Spexhall Res.

The remaining games in the division both ended in stalemates as White Horse Seltic Res. and Earsham drew 1-1 and Factory Arms and Westhall ended 2-2.
