League report 31st Jan 09.

Hearts of Oak opened up a 9 point lead as they beat their former reserve side FC Hearts 4-2 with goals from Gowing, Fisher, Williams & Fields.

The inactive Pot Black remain second with a game in hand, FC Hearts 3rd ten points adrift and Norton 4th ten points adrift with two games in hand and as yet to meet the leaders twice.

Blundeston Magpies are upto 5th following their 3-2 win at Waveney Res. which came via a 90th minute penalty.

Kirkley & Pakefield A following 3 straight defeats this week returned to winning ways as they ran out 2-0 winners against Sole Bay United Res. They leap frog Wrentham whose season appears to have crashed following their 3-0 loss at Spexhall leaving them 17 points behind Hearts but with 3 games in hand.

Barsham have picked up some form as they beat Oxford Arms 4-3 and it looks like a straight battle between Oxford and Sole Bay for survival as Caxton Res. have a two point advantage and at least 3 games in hand.

Caxton also have improved their squad in recent weeks and this week they knocked Norton Athletic out of the KO Cup following their 5-4 shootout success after the game finished goalless.

The second divison sees Corton White Horse Seltic clear favourites for the title as they opened up a 9 point lead following their 3-1 win against Norton Res. Ole Frank are second with a game in hand whilst Hopton overtake Norton in third by virtue of their 3-2 win against Waveney Gunners.

Pakefield Re-United crashed to a 12-2 reversal at Corton A whilst LIFC had a good 3-1 win at a struggling Ellingham.

The battle of the bottom two resulted in Tudor defeating Oxford Arms Res. 4-3 but they stay second bottom on goal difference from Ellingham.

The third division saw the big game between 3rd place Harleston and second place Suffolk Punch postponed allowing Town Hall to extend their lead to 4 points after their 4-1 win at Waveney A.

Lake Lothing in good form at present won by the odd goal in 5 against Earsham whilst draw specialists Marquis of Lorne were at it again as they were locked at 1-1 with Spexhall Res.

Kirkley & Pakefield B came back from Westhall with a 3-2 victory whilst White Horse Seltic Res. defeated their Magpies counterparts 3-2 as they continue to pull clear from the foot of the division.

The league also lost its remaining representative in the Suffolk Primary Cup as Ole Frank lost 1-0 at Salvation Army at the quarter final stage.

Just a reminder to all clubs that if they have to postpone a game due to the pitch being unplayable it is the home teams responsibility to inform the opposition, the referee and the league.
