League Report 14th Feb 2008

Despite the bad weather during the week all bar one of the fixtures were played and with all the usual suspects picking up points there are few changes to the league standings as we enter the final third of the season.

We will start in the third division where leaders Town Hall travelled to 100%ers Suffolk Punch and that record was ended as Town Hall netted a last minute goal to take a share of the spoils 1-1. It’s surely them two battling for the title as Harleston Town Res. slipped to a 2-0 defeat against neighbours Earsham.

Lake Lothing’s form has picked up of late and they ran out 6-3 winners against Kirkley & Pakefield B to remain 4th ahead of Waveney A who defeated White Horse Seltic Res. 4-1.

Bottom side Factory Arms were leading 2-0 at Marquis of Lorne but the home side hit back with 4 goals to win 4-2. Finally there were no goal’s in the Magpies Res. v Westhall match.

The big result in the second division saw Ole Frank crash to a 4-0 reverse at Norton Athletic Res. whose goal’s came from doubles for Gary Crisp and Sean Higginbotham.

Hopton White Hart split the sides following their crazy 6-5 win at Crusaders whilst Pakefield Re-United stay in touch after their narrow 2-1 win at Lowestoft International.

Ellingham move out of the bottom two following their 3-2 win against Corton A whilst Waveney Gunners now take their place as they slipped to a single goal defeat at leaders White Horse Seltic.

The biggest winners of the day were Bungay Town A who won 10-1 at basement side Oxford Arms Res. whilst finally Tudor FC edged past Oulton Broad & Notley’s Res. 3-2.

The first division saw the top 3 all win without conceding a goal. The best result goes to Pot Black who came back from Spexhall with a 2-0 scoreline.

Hearts of Oak managed 1 more as they defeated an improved Barsham 3-0 with a hat-trick for Jonny Williams whilst Norton Athletic hit 4 at Oxford Arms and struck the post/bar a further 3 times.

Caxton Res. who have improved in recent weeks won a 7 goal thriller at Kirkley & Pakefield 4-3 whilst Wrentham gained revenge for an early season reversal as they thrashed Blundeston Magpies 8-2.

Finally during the week the KO Cup and John Moore Shield draws took place and paired the following:
