League Report 7th February.

We will start this week with the league knockout cup where 4 of 5 remaining second round ties were played with the weather putting paid to the tie between Blundeston Magpies & White Horse Seltic.

Holders Hearts of Oak eased into the last 8 with a 7-1 win against second division Lowestoft International, likewise Barsham who beat Bungay Town A 6-0.

Pot Black also put paid to second division opposition in the shape of Pakefield Re-United with a much closer scoreline 2-0 whilst Norton Athletic Res. also from the second division ended the hopes of first division Oxford Arms with Simon Tarver netting the only goal.

Onto league affairs and Norton Athletic moved back into second place after one of their best team performances of the season saw them defeat a FC Hearts 3-1.

There was a 9 goal thriller at Wrentham where the home side prevailed 5-4 against Kirkley & Pakefield A whilst on Southwold Common Spexhall picked up the points winning 2-1.

The second division saw Ole Frank close the gap to 6 points following their 8-0 win at Oxford Arms Res, whilst Oulton Broad & Notley’s Res. scored 7 in their 7-1 win at Waveney Gunners.

Two sides with hopes of a high finish both lost as Crusaders went down 3-1 to a resurgent Corton A and discipline cost Hopton White Hart as they went down 3-2 at Tudor and had 3 men sent off.

The third division saw leaders Town Hall ease to a 4-0 win against Westhall, whilst Harleston Town Res, won by the same score at Earsham a result which sees them move above the inactive Suffolk Punch into second place.

Kirkley & Pakefield B ran out 4-1 winners against Marquis of Lorne a result that puts them 5th whilst a strengthened Magpies Res. side crashed in 13 goals against Factory Arms with just two in reply.
