The Notley’s Lowestoft & District Saturday league got under way last week with no few than 112 goals scored across the three divisions.

In the first division last seasons champions Norton Athletic got off to a good start winning 5-2 against Pot Black despite conceding after just 22 seconds to a Gavin Hunt goal. Norton hit back through Danny Hoadley, Steven Hak and Richard Hudson to take a 3-1 lead before Hak made it 4. Glenn Fletcher scored from the spot for 4-2 but Hak completed his hat-trick in injury time to cap a fine win.

Hearts of Oak started the season with a 6-1 win at Pakefield Re-United, goals coming from new signing Simon Greenwood with two, Rob Hills, Kirk Gowing, Jonny Williams and Steven Shipley.

The final game in the division and arguably the game of the day saw Waveney Reserves pick up the points by winning a 7 goal thriller against Spexhall, Ray Winney 2, Scott Jermy and Ian Hunter the scorers.

The second division saw DK Consultants formerly Suffolk Punch get the biggest win 6-1 against Waveney A. Elsewhere in the division Hopton came back from Spexhall Reserves with the three points following their 3-0 win and Telecom Rovers scored the odd goal of three at Lowestoft International.

The biggest win of the day came in the third division as new boys Lowestoft Albion were on the wrong end of a 20-1 demolition at Harleston Town Reserves.
