League Report 25th September

We will start the report this week with news of the county cup action. Norton Athletic won their Norfolk Junior Cup 1st round replay against Lynn Napier 4-0 with two goals in each half. Rory Spinks & Dan Blewitt in the first half and Kevin Briers & Andy Green in the second. Norton will now play Norfolk n Chance from Yarmouth in the second round on October 9th.

In the Suffolk Primary Cup the first round is regionalised. The biggest winners of the day were Carlton Rangers who inflicted another heavy defeat on Lowestoft Albion, 18-0 the score.

Out of all the ties involving our clubs only one tie went the distance and that was Royal Oak and Telecom Rovers which ended 5-5 after extra time. The second division outfit won through 4-2 in the shootout.

Waveney Reserves must be strongly fancied after they progressed 8-2 against Halesworth Town Reserves.

Of the remaining ties it was a case of second division beating teams from the third as Lowestoft International beat Blundeston Magpies Reserves 5-1, Crusaders winning 3-2 against Corton White Horse Seltic Reserves, DK consultants ran out 5-0 winners against Factory Arms, Bungay Town A defeated Marquis of Lorne 3-1 and Waveney Gunners beat Westhall 3-1.

In the Norfolk Primary Cup 1st round Ellingham crashed out 4-0 at Sporle whilst Hopton won through 7-0 against Holt united A.

The Stoke Ferry v Earsham game will have to be replayed after it was abandoned due to a nasty injury to an Earsham player.

Onto league action and Hearts of Oak recorded an impressive 6-0 win against Kirkley & Pakefield A, scorers Luke Falliaze with 3, Kirk Gowing, Steven Shipley & Jake Armes.

On their heels are Oxford Arms who kept their third clean sheet winning 4-0 at Pot Black.

Spexhall picked up their first win of the season as they hit Corton & Ole Frank for seven unanswered goals.

Barsham returned to winning ways 3-1 against Pakefield Re-United whilst Corton White Horse Seltic picked up their first point as they held Blundeston Magpies to a goal-less draw.

In the second division Mutford & Wrentham won 7-1 at Waveney A whilst Beccles Caxton Reserves lifted themselves off the bottom as they won 4-0 against Spexhall Reserves.

Kirkley & Pakefield B now head the third division table following their 4-0 (Liam Gowing 2, Ben Atkins, Martin Saunders) win against Oxford Arms Reserves and Mutford & Wrentham Reserves won 2-0 against their Southwold Town counterparts.
