League Report 12th February 2011.

We start this week’s roundup with the good news that Hopton FC from the second division have reached the Norfolk Primary Cup final after beating Tugus United 4-2. They will meet Belton United from the Gt Yarmouth league in the final.

Moving onto league affairs and after putting themselves back in the title race last week, Hearts of Oak undone their good work as they were beaten 2-0 by a well drilled Pot Black side who continue their fine form.

Leaders Oxford Arms picked up three points following their 5-1 win over Gt Yarmouth Town Hall and currently remain 8 points clear of Waveney Reserves who beat Pakefield Re-United thanks to hat-tricks from Ray Winney and Ian Hunter, with Paul Hunter netting the other.

Norton Athletic remain in third and also had two hat-trick heroes in their 10-2 win against bottom side Corton White Horse Seltic. Steven Hak and Rory Spinks netted 3 apiece with Andy Green, Dan Blewitt, Chris Smith and Danny Green also on the score sheet.

Blundeston Magpies are having a good season and this week they recorded a 3-0 win at Barsham whilst the game between Kirkley A and Spexhall was postponed.

DK Consultants look certain to walk away with the second division title as they continued their march with a 5-3 win against Mutford & Wrentham.

Waveney Gunners slump goes on as they were beaten 4-1 at Bungay Town A who are looking for a promotion spot, currently sitting in second.

Crusaders and Earsham shared four goal in their mid table clash whilst Spexhall Reserves 6-0 win over bottom side Ellingham see them up to fourth place.

The big relegation clash at Denes HS resulted in a narrow 1-0 win for Waveney A against Norton Athletic Reserves whilst Beccles Caxton Reserves v Lowestoft International fell victim to the rain.

Corton White Horse Seltic continue to set the pace in the third division this time winning 3-2 against Blundeston Magpies Reserves.

The majority of people who leave these comments are sad little people who are not good enough to ever contemplate playing for hearts, we are still the most successful side in the league and on our day can tear any team in this league to shreds, this week we lost to a pot black side that were on the day harder working, more passionate and simply better than us man for man thats football it happens but we will carry on to next week and go again if you want to slag us off then at least leave a name so the boys can be informed who you are when you next step onto a pitch against us, i will happily leave my name to any comment i make as i am big enough to stand by my opinions and as for ringers care to mention any names???? im intrigued as to who exactly i have signed on from higher level clubs

Thanks Bell for the comments about our performance. As for Hearts, I'd take it as a compliment that people are delighted when you lose, as thats always the way with good sides.

In our defense Hearts were not missing loads of players nor were they playing ringers, and they were the same side that dispatched Oxford Arms last week and hadn't lost all season, minus Kirk Gowing (who in fairness is a big miss) but the 11 that started would still as individuals walk into every team in the league (in my opinion).

Our lads wanted it more on the day and thats what it came down to, Hearts will with out doubt be there or there abouts at the end of the season.

Look at Liverpool Ok they've had a hard season, former heros were wanted elsewhere, but they continue to attract big name players much like Hearts, No one likes playing them and because of their pedigree they remain one of the biggest clubs around. But like all none reds/hearts fans we do like to see you lose and Bell I'd be lying if I said otherwise, and that is the biggest compliment I can give you mate.

Best of luck for the rest of the season Bell, I doubt you'll need it.

Yeah that is a fair comment, but because they are arrogant, dirty cheats, and bad sports. Thats why everyone hates them! you seemed to miss that out of your reply.

Rob Sterry PBFC manager said...

There only called dirty cheats if you lose, if you beat them & we did you shake hands & forget. They have taken points off most people over the years hence they have this reputation. Ok there was one dubious decision sat but if your good enough doesn't matter as we scored two more.. Sour grapes if you ask me.

and before its said, yes we at PB have said the same in the past but thats cause we lost those games!

well i for one agree with him rob sterry, they are dirty and they are cheats how many times have we heard about bad offside calls, late flags and disallowed goals time and time again, definatly in matches against our team every year and yours by the sound of it, they're new lino is a bigger cheat than bobbie was. as for dirty there has been more injurys by their idiots than nearly any team in the league, Norton had two lads get terribly hurt the other year, tom hudson injury was GBH from what i heard. And you've got a short memory Rob.. didn't Simon Durrant get his leg broken by them the year before last? The league would be better off with out them.

Ok lets bring up the past since 2004 its been 5 league titles 4 ko cups and a suffolk junior cup, look for all the excuses you like but that is the basic reason we are hated and with the exception of gary boyd some hearts players have more league winners medals than the rest of the league put together, all 600+ of em and regardless of how you perceive they were won, they were all won by doing the most basic thing in football scoring more than the opposition. Some truly fantastic players have passed through hearts over the years and dont deserve to be tarred with this brush, injuries happen in football its a risk we all take and how many clubs can claim a serious injury has never happened in one of their games

Rob Sterry said...

Short memory? Yep Targer did break his leg but I wasnt there so not in a position to comment. He played with it broke for weeks so wasn't all that bad that I do know. But I will say I broke a lads leg in a tackle when playing Kirkley and I'm not a that type of player, these things happen. I won't get embroiled in a 'let's slag off Hearts' discussion, I like to beat them as much as the next person, possibly more so but that's cause I want to beat the best teams. Something else I won't do is hide behind anonymity!

i've no complaints on the way hearts compete in games, yes they can get stuck in but every team has players that enjoys a tackle! if anyone over steps the mark then thats down to the referee to sort out.
very honest post bell,i always like to read your views, i agree with what you wrote but you did peg us back in second half without creating any clear cut chances, i'm sure you will bounce straight back,

Interested to know who the anonymous commenters are, and if they play in this league. I can't see why everyone wants to talk and slag people off! Play a hard fair game on saturday, shake hands and have a beer after, aint that what its all about? Especially at this level! No point in talking shit through the week!!

I admit i've come off the pitch after another hearts defeat and complained about what i felt were nasty challenges. its more bitterness though and the wish i could add more aggression to my own game. When you actually look at the challenges going in at premier league level though you realise top teams don't hold back! one gerrard cruncher and i'd be a quivvering wreck!

fair play if you want to wind hearts up, just make sure you do it when you arent scheduled to play them :) coz 9 times out of 10 it will end in defeat.

harri, norton

ps keep the banter going, its a great read while im layed on the sofa with a sore knee!!

To be fair hearts are the best side we have played since we last played catfield 4 seasons ago back in yarmouth. But i agree the their lino is a cheat & made a shocking call to deny us a 4th goal. No denying they are a quality side though good luck to them.
