League Report 29th January 2011

It was an unbelievable goal fest this weekend with a total of 123 being scored in the 19 games played.

We will start in the Suffolk Primary Cup where the league sees two representatives in the semi finals. We were guaranteed at least one win as DK Consultants were drawn against Waveney Gunners the current top two in the second divison and it was DK that won through with an amazing 11-4 scoreline.

They are joined by Mutford & Wrentham who scored the only goal in their tie at Aldeburgh Town. Will the two be paired in the semi finals?

Moving onto the first division and it got better for Oxford Arms as they recorded their 9th straight win in beating Pakefield Re-United 5-1 and with it stretch their lead to an impressive 9 points as second placed Norton slipped to a 4-2 reverse against Hearts of Oak who are more than likely the only side that could realistically challenge Oxford for the title with the two side clashing this weekend.

Waveney Reserves recorded an emphatic 8-1 win against Barsham whilst inform Pot black won 6-1 against Corton White Horse Seltic who remain firmly rooted to the bottom of the table.

Blundeston Magpies returned from an out of sorts Spexhall with a fine 2-1 win and the points were shared at Walmer Road as Kirkley & Pakefield A and Gt Yarmouth Town Hall drew 2-2.

There was joy for Norton Athletic Reserves who claimed their first win of the season beating Telecom Rovers 3-1 and with it climb off the bottom as Ellingham were thrashed 11-0 at Hopton who are up to fourth with 4 games in hand. Bungay Town A remain in third following their 5-2 win at Beccles Caxton Reserves.

Elsewhere Earsham netted the solitary in their derby fixture with Spexhall Reserves whilst Lowestoft International won by the odd goal of five against Waveney A.

The third division has been adjusted following the withdrawal of Marquis of Lorne but Corton White Horse Seltic Reserves remain at the summit following their 21-0 rout over a sporting Lowestoft Albion who keep on going.

Mutford & Wrentham Reserves are in second courtesy of their 4-2 victory against Carlton Rangers whilst FC Eastport slip to third following their surprise 3-2 reverse at Factory Arms a result which lifts them to 5th place.

Harleston Town Reserves are up to fourth after beating Oxford Arms Reserves 5-2 whilst Kirkley & Pakefield B won their mid table clash against Blundeston Magpies 2-1.

The final game was played at Westhall and saw a remarkable 7-5 scoreline in favour of the visitors Southwold Town Reserves.
