Weekend Preview - 1st March 2008

It's back to league action this weekend following the majority of clubs being involved in the cup competitions and in division one Hearts of Oak will look to extend their lead over Norton to 8 points with a tough home fixture against Spexhall. Spexhall will be hoping to take more points of the top two after beating Norton last time out and the inactive Norton will be hoping they take something from the game.

With Wrentham also inactive Kirkley & Pakefield A will be looking to consolidate their current 3rd place berth with victory over Pot Black whilst Waveney Youth will look to keep up their challenge as they take on Sole Bay United Res. who look to have a personal battle with Carlton Rangers as to who will finish out of the bottom two. Carlton take on CDS Waveney whilst basement boys Corton Res. take on Oxford Arms as 4 of the bottom 5 square off against each other. The only hope for these teams is that only one team may be relegated following the withdrawel of Lowestoft Town A earlier in the season.

The second division sees leaders Hearts of Oak Res. take on Ellingham whilst nearest challengers tackle Crusaders. Blundeston Magpies will be hoping to stay in touch as they face Royal Standard as will White Horse Seltic who entertains Pakefield Re-United.

Last weeks high scorers Beccles Caxton Res. who are still in with a sniff of promotion will be looking for 3 more points as they entertain Lacon Arms whilst Suffolk Punch who must be deflated after conceding 18 goals last weekend travel to Norton Athletic Res. who are in much need of a league win to get their league programmes up and running again. Oulton Broad & Notley's Res. who have jumped up the table face a mid table battle at Waveney Gunners who will want to get back to wining ways following their heavy cup defeat last week.

The third division sees two in-form sides clash as leaders Ole Frank entertain Bungay Town A where a win would all but guarantee Ole Frank a promotion spot. Hopton White Hart and Blundeston Plough would need to pick up maximum points from their visits to Marquis of Lorne and Oxford Arms Res. to keep their faint title hopes alive. LIFC take on Earsham whilst Spexhall Res. tackle CDS Waveney Res. who are looking to finish the season strongly. Finally Factory Arms can move off the bottom spot if they pick up 3 points against Blundeston Magpies Res. as Westhall 2007 are inactive.
