Hearts fight back to book semi final berth.

As we reach the final two months of the season the semi finalists of the leagues cup competitions are now know.

In the Knockout cup the pick of the ties was at Normanston Park as Hearts of Oak took on Kirkley & Pakefield A. The Kirkley young guns raced into a 2-0 lead. They then struck the bar before Lee Fisher scored a screamer to bring Hearts back into the tie. It still looked as though Kirkley would hang on, however with the final touch of the game Kris Atkinson headered home an equaliser to force extra time for the league leaders. Hearts then went on to win the tie as they scored two more goals through an Atkinson penalty and Luke Fallaize. Their semi final opponents will be Waveney Youth who scored an impressive 4-0 romp at Spexhall.

CDS Waveney had no trouble in booking their place as they eased past Waveney Gunners 7-1 and their opponents will be holders Norton Athletic who struggled to a 7-3 win over Royal Standard whom kept battling until the end. Norton scorers being Hills 2, Green 2, Hak, Smith and an O.G.

In the John Moore shield all 4 ties were relatively close fought encounters. Bungay Town A beat near neighbours Spexhall Res. 3-1 to book a last 4 tie with fellow country side Westhall 2007 who scraped through at the expense of Factory Arms 3-2.

Oxford Arms also won by the odd goal of 5 to set up a home clash with Hopton White Hart whom defeated Lowestoft International 3-1.

Onto league action and Wrentham continue to climb up they table, they are now 4th after beating Corton Res. 3-0. Oxford Arms gained a needed 3 points as they crushed Sole Bay United Res. 6-1 at Dip Farm.

Division two saw plenty of goals with two amazing scorelines most notably at Suffolk Punch as they were crushed 18-0 by a rampant Beccles Caxton Res. side. Leaders Hearts of Oak Res. also picked up 3 points as they defeated Pakefield Re-United 4-2.

They stay 1 point ahead of Barsham who were lucky in collecting all 3 points at Norton Res. as they scored direct from a corner in the 88th minute. White Horse Seltic and Blundeston Magpies stay in the hunt as they beat Ellingham 3-2 and Crusaders 4-2 respectively. The final game saw Oulton Broad & Notley’s Res. rise two places as they beat Lacon Arms 7-2.

There was only one game played in the third division as Blundeston Plough returned to winning way as they beat Blundeston Magpies Res. by the only goal as the Earsham v CDS Waveney Res. fixture was called off.

Ellingham will play Lynn Docklands in the Norfolk Primary Cup Final as they won their replay 7-2 against West Lynn SSC Res.

Clubs are advised that they can keep up with the latest information on the leagues website: http://lowestoftdistrictleague.blogspot.com/
