Weekend Preview - 23rd Feb 08

This week sees the leagues cup comptions reach the quarter final stage. The pick of the ties in the KO Cup is at Normanston Park where first division leaders Hearts of Oak take on Kirkley & Pakfield A a side that they beat 4-0 just a fortnight ago. Will Hearts find it as easy this time around?

Cup holders Norton Athletic must fancy their chances of progressing as they travel to second division Royal Standard. The two sides squared up last year at the same stage as Norton ran out 9-2 winners as they went onto lift the trophy. Will history repeat itself.

Another tough fixture takes place at Spexhall as they take on Waveney Youth in a game that is too close to call whilst the final tie will see Waveney Gunners looking to cause a shock at first division CDS Waveney.

The pick of the ties in the John Moore Shiled see Hopton White Hart take on Lowestoft International in a spicy looking fixture. Two league struggles face each other at Dip Farm as Factory Arms entertain Westhall 2007. The remaining two ties are difficult to call as in form Bungay Town A take on near rivals Spexhall Res. and Oxford Arms Res. entertains Marquis of Lorne. Will these ties go all the way to penalties?

Onto league action and Wrentham will be hopeful of following up last weeks demolition of Oxford Arms against bottom side Corton Res. as they look to push on for 3rd place. Oxford Arms meanwhile look to recover from that defeat as they take on Sole Bay United Res.

There are some big games in the second division. Hearts of Oak Res. face a difficult trip to Pakefield Re-United whilst fellow title challengers Barsham travel to a deflated Norton Athletic Res. who need to get their season back on track after being knocked out of two cup competition in as many weeks. Primary Cup finalists Ellingham face Corton White Horse Seltic as fellow promotion seekers Blundeston Magpies are also on the road as they visit Crusaders.

The bottom side Suffolk Punch face a tough game against Caxton Res. whilst lowly Lacon Arms travel to Oulton Broad & Notley's Res.

Due to cup committments there are just two scheduled fixtures in the third division as Earsham entertain CDS Waveney Res. and their is a Blundeston derby as Magpies Res. tackle Blundeston Plough looking to bounce back from two straight defeats.
