Friendly 24/07/08

Wenhaston Res- 4
Pot Black F.C- 1

With the squad a little thin on the ground for this match, with the air show no doubt playing a big part, all in all it was a respectable performance to which the score does not do justice.

Thanks again to Uni boys Hoody & Tom Miles who both looked dangerous and it was nice to see Jordon Wardrop and Leon Neeve pull on the Orange shirts for the first time.

On reflecting on the performance the pleasing thing is that there are many more positives than negatives, we created lots of chance's, which considering their were lots of players who have never played together in key positions, means things can only improve with time. Three of their goals were gifts and there manager, the ref and supporters commented that on another day the result could easily of gone the other way. Although to make sure next time things do go in our favour shooting practice is top the agenda at training next time around.

That aside thanks to all the lads who made the journey out to sunny Wenhaston your commitment off the pitch and on it was noted and much appreciated.

A massive thank you to our sponsor GH Windows & Doors, as the new kit got its first run out, it looked great and your backing will help the club to push forward in the new campaign.

And lastly a big thank you to Wenhaston for their hospitality and the friendly itself, It was nice to see a well run and well organised side, that were not to big for their boots (mentioning no local sides in particular!) and a top bunch of lads to boot, I hope we can have a re-run some time in the future.

Further Rumours

Following the weekend some further transfer rumours have come to light:

Rumour is Nick & Alex Holmes who both helped Barsham to promotion last season are both leaving the club to join a higher level club.

There are plenty of rumours circulating from Wrentham this week. Firstly Dale Gowing has been offered the first ever contract to remain at the club although he is still speaking to higher level clubs before committing his future.

Manager Stuart Holland looks to strengthen his squad further as he is trying to temps former keeper Matt Gooch back to the club from Oulton Broad. He is also looking to strengthen his midfeld by sigining Gareth Wright fron rivals Oxford Arms.

In division two Oulton Broad Reserves look to sign defender Liam Gowing.

If your club has any more news then please email nortonfc@hotmail.com to be publised on this site.

Transfer Rumours & New Signings

We would like to put all transfer rumours and news on players signing on here but in order to do so we need input from clubs and players.

Rumours so far:

Micki Williams (Hearts to Norton). After expressing a desire to join Norton after the cup final Micki has now pledged to remain at Hearts.

Andy Green (Norton to Hearts). Andy Green last night put pen to paper for Norton to quash this rumour.

Pot Black are looking to put a good squad together for next season and have already added Simon Durrant and Jordan Wardrope to their squad for next season having both played for their Sunday side. There is a good chance that Darren Boyd (Hearts of Oak) could also join after appearing for them in the Ref's 7's.

If you hear of any more then please e-mail nortonfc@hotmail.com so they can be added to this site.
