League Report 27th December 2008.

Just a brief report this week on the two matches that took place in the second division last Saturday.

Leaders White Horse Seltic moved 3 points clear of Ole Frank following their 2-0 win against Bungay Town A whilst Norton Athletic Res. made it 8 games unbeaten as they came back from being a goal down at half time to defeat Pakefield Re-United 4-1. Gary Crisp with 2, Jon Green and Sean Higginbotham on his 150 club appearance the scorers.

This week sees the league return to normality with a full programme of fixtures (weather permitting).

League Report 20th December

Hearts of Oak sit top of the first division with a 7 point advantage following their 6-1 victory at Blundeston Magpies which saw Kirk Gowing fire another hat-trick.

Norton Athletic are the team in second although they do have a game in hand as they needed an own goal to defeat Barsham 3-2 for the second time his season. Ryan Hills netting the other two goals.

Pot Black who are having a fine season are up to 4th place following their 4-0 win against Sole Bay United Res. who slip back to the foot of the table following Caxton Res. 3-2 win at Oxford Arms.

The match between Spexhall & Waveney Res. ended all square 2-2.

Wrentham finally played their Suffolk Junior cup tie at Keddington but bowed out 3-2.

There’s no change in the second division as the top two both won. Ole Frank recorded a 16-1 win at bottom side Oxford Arms Res. whist leaders White Horse Seltic had to work hard for their 2-1 win against Lowestoft International.

Norton Athletic Res. are now third following their 2-1 win at Oulton Broad & Notley’s Res. with Paul Martin grabbing the late winner.

They are joined on 9 points by Pakefield Re-United who beat Tudor FC 3-2, Bungay Town A who beat Crusaders 2-1 and Hopton White Hart who recorded a fine 4-1 win against Ellingham.

Waveney Gunners are out of the bottom two following their 6-3 success against Corton A.

In the third division Gt Yarmouth Town Hall hit White Horse Seltic Res. for 10 whilst Suffolk Punch maintained the league’s only perfect record with a 2-0 win against Lake Lothing.

Harleston Town Res. lose ground after being held 2-2 by Spexhall Res. who are leapfrogged by Earsham after they won a seven goal thriller at Kirkley & Pakefield B.

Blundeston Magpies Res. won their second game in defeating Factory Arms 5-1 whilst finally Waveney A cam back from Westhall with a 3-0 victory.

The league would like to wish all clubs, players and followers a Happy Christmas & prosperous New Year.

League Report 13th December.

Once again the league programme was decimated by the weather with only 2 matches in each division being played to a finish.

On a bleak day the league lost Dip Farm and the games at Denes High School, Ellingham, Norton, Caxton & Spexhall all with waterlogged pitches.

4 matches started at Normantson Park but 3 of these were abandoned.

In the first division Kirkley & Pakefield A moved into second place as they emphatically beat Oxford Arms 11-0 at Walmer Road. The one match to finish at Normanston Park saw Pot Black defeat Barsham 3-0.

Hearts of Oak were beating Norton Athletic 4-2 after 55minutes but the referee then deemed the pitch unsafe and abandoned the game. The other two games up there were halted at half time.

The second division saw both leaders play their matches and both won as they opened up a 6 point lead as White Horse Seltic defeated Tudor 4-1 and Ole Frank beat Corton A 5-0.

The leaders of the third division Gt Yarmouth Town Hall also played and they ran out 6-0 winners against Marquis of Lorne whilst Harleston Town Res. beat local rival Westhall 6-2 in the only other game completed.

League Report 6th December

The main focus this week was the Primary cup and the league still has 6 teams left in at the 4th round stage.

Starting with the Norfolk Primary Cup where both remaining representatives will go into Friday’s draw as Gt Yarmouth Town Hall defeated Prostar Windows 6-2 helped by a hat-trick from Rob Leggett.

Norton Athletic Res. faced a tough looking match with Norwich Medics but won through 3-1 to keep up their fine form.

In the Suffolk Primary Cup 4 sides made it through. Tudor FC were handed a walk over against St Clements Hospital and will now entertain The Salvation Army.

Ole Frank won the battle of the leagues sides as they cruised past Pakefield Re-United 6-1 and will now travel to Clare Town Res.

Waveney Res. who must be hotly fancied to go far dumped out Needham Market Veterans 9-1 with Ray Winney helping himself to 4 goals, they will now travel to Albion Mills whilst Corton White Horse Seltic defeated Tacket Street Boys Brigade Old Boys 3-0 and will now play Stanton Res. at home in the 4th round.

Of the teams bowing out Caxton Res. lost 3-1 to Coplestonians A, Lake Lothing lost 8-2 to Cockfield United Res. and Suffolk Punch lost on penalties after holding Henley Athletic Res. to a 3-3 draw AET.

Onto league matters and Hearts of Oak recorded another big win as they beat Barsham 8-0 with Kirk Gowing getting half of the goals.

Norton Athletic leapfrogged Blundeston Magpies following their 6-0 win which saw Ryan Hills score his 200th competitive goal. Magpies battled on gamely despite starting with ten and finishing with 9 men.

FC Hearts remain in second despite losing 4-3 to Pot Black and Spexhall are up a place following their fine 6-3 win against Kirkley & Pakfield A.

The final fixture saw Oxford Arms and Sole Bay United Res. share 6 goals.

The second division saw some big scores with Crusaders winning 10-4 against Lowestoft International. Hopton White Hart won 5-3 against Corton A to join 3 other clubs on 16 points.

A change of manager seems to have inspired Oulton Broad Res. who won again, this time beating an in-form Bungay Town A 2-1 whilst finally Ellingham jumped a couple of places after beating bottom side Oxford Arms Res. 4-1.
The third division saw all the top sides in cup action with Harleston’s match being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Earsham move into mid-table after their 7-0 rout against Factory Arms. Above them are Kirkley & Pakefield B after an impressive 3-0 win against Spexhall Res.

The final two games saw Magpies Res. & Waveney A, Seltic Res. & Westhall both finish 1-1 with no changes to their league positions.
