Weekly Round Up Saturday 5th September.

Notley's Lowestoft and District League round-up

MOST of the teams in the popular three-division Saturday League have started the new football season, with a number of early indicators being shown for the rest of the campaign.

In division one, champions Hearts of Oak and their nearest challengers Pot Black and Norton are all off the mark with impressive wins.

Hearts of Oak beat Mutford & Wrentham 4-0 at Normanston Park, with a brace of goals for Adam Taylor, while Ant Field and Kirk Gowing were also on the scoresheet.

Pot Black impressively beat Oxford Arms 5-1 away at Dip Farm. Goalscorers were Darren Laws, new signing Ian Wilson, Gav Hunt, Max Wall and Adam Bird. Norton Athletic also triumphed, beating newly-promoted Ole Frank 3-1, with goals for debutant Dan Blewitt, Dan Hoadley and Tom Hudson.

Elsewhere in division one, there were wins for Kirkley & Pakefield A, who beat Barsham 1-0, and Waveney Reserves won the battle of the reserve sides beating Beccles Caxton Reserves 3-2.

In division two, a hat trick from Rory Spinks gave Norton Athletic Reserves a fine 6-0 win at Crusaders. Two goals from Jack Fairhead were enough for a 2-0 win for Bungay Town A over newly-promoted Harleston Town Reserves.

Ellingham, Sole Bay United Reserves, Suffolk Punch and AFC Star were all in the goals as well. Ellingham beat Hopton 7-0, Sole Bay Reserves hit Corton A for six, Suffolk Punch went nap in a fine 5-1 win over fellow promoted side Yarmouth Town Hall, while AFC Star beat Lowestoft International 4-1.

Goals from Coote, Sutcliffe and Stephenson gave Pakefield Re-United a good 3-2 over Tudor.

Corton White Horse Seltic Reserves and Oxford Arms Reserves both hit four goals apiece in division three as they beat Carlton Rangers 4-0 and Marquis of Lorne 4-2 respectively.

Waveney Gunners were the big winners in division three with a 5-2 win over Westhall at Dip Farm. Elsewhere, there were wins for Norman Warrior and Waveney A, while Blundeston Magpies Reserves and Kirkley & Pakefield B shared the spoils in the only drawn encounter of the day with a 1-1 draw at Dip Farm.
