League Report 23rd October

We will start the roundup this week in the Suffolk Primary Cup where the leagues representatives were reduced to 7 following the regionalised second round.

The biggest winners were Waveney Reserves whom defeated third division Southwold Town Reserves 6-1. Almost emulating that score were DK Consultants who racked up a 5-1 win against fellow second division side Telecom Rovers.

Mutford & Wrentham were 4-1 winners against Bungay Town A whilst Waveney Gunners had a solid 2-0 win against Lowestoft International.

The cup also produced a 9 and 7 goal thrillers. FC Eastport from the third tier beat Beccles Caxton Reserves from the second tier 5-4 and Spexhall Reserves won through 4-3 against third division Oxford Arms Reserves.

Finally Carlton Rangers failed to raise a side for their scheduled tie against Crusaders and as such Crusaders will be awarded the tie.

Onto league affairs and Oxford Arms remain the only first division
side boasting a perfect record following their 6th straight win, 4-0 against Pakefield Re-United.

Hearts of Oak dropped their first points in being held 2-2 at Barsham but did fight back from 2-0 down with Kris Atkinson and Luke Falliaze scoring.

Another team to fight back was Norton who found themselves 2-0 down at half time in their match against Town Hall. A stirring second start to the second half saw them score three time inside 6 minute to take the lead in a game they eventually won 4-3. Sean Higginbotham 2, Andy Shilling and Steve Hak were the Norton scorers.

Pot Black, another side with many players missing picked up the points following their 4-1 win at Corton & Ole Frank. Simon Durrant and Gavin Hunt both netting twice for L’Orange whilst Arnie High scored the consolation for Ole Frank.

Spexhall who are in fine form won for the third time this season 4-0 against Corton White Horse Seltic.

The final game in the division saw a good 5-0 win for Kirkley A against Blundeston Magpies.

Due to the Primary cup there was a limited number of league games in the second and third divisions.

Norton Athletic Reserves picked up their first point of the campaign following their 1-1 draw at Ellingham, Gary Crisp the scorer for Norton whilst Earsham lost to a solitary Waveney A strike.

The third division sees new leaders in Marquis or Lorne, on GD following their 10-0 win against Lowestoft Albion and they are joined on 15 points by Corton White Horse Seltic Reserves whom won 3-2 against Harleston Town Reserves.

Blundeston Magpies Reserves edged a high scoring affair 4-3 at Royal Oak whilst finally the points were shared at Westhall as they drew 2-2 with Factory Arms.
