Hearts clinch first division title.

As the season reaches its conclusion most of the promotion and relegation issues have now been decided and this week Hearts of Oak retained the first division title as they defeated Oxford Arms 4-0 including a brace from Jonny Williams.

Norton Athletic will be runner’s up after they scored two late goals to beat Waveney Youth 2-1. Ric Hudson and Steve Hak the scorers as Paul Jones put the visitors in front.

Spexhall single goal win over Sole Bay United Res, means that they are 4th and can still finish third but in order to achieve this they need to beat Pot Black by 14 goals which is unlikely. Corton Res. will finish bottom and be relegated.

The second division saw Hearts of Oak Res. crowned champions following their midweek win and the runners up position will go to the last game as Hearts play Barsham. Barsham are currently third after their 5-1 win over Ellingham. They are behind Caxton Res. who have finished the season strongly and with a 5-1 win over Waveney Gunners. Barsham will take second and promotion if they can net a point from their last game against Hearts.

Crusaders thumped a poor Lacon Arms 6-0 but will still finish in the bottom two and relegation along with Lacon. In the other game played Oulton Broad & Notley’s Res scored two early goals to beat Norton Athletic Res. 2-0.

The issues at the top of the third division are already decided with Ole Frank champions and Hopton White Hart runners up and this week Hopton were held to a 2-2 draw at Oxford Arms Res. Their John Moore Shield finalists were also held 4-4 by CDS Waveney Res.

A third draw occurred as LIFC and Westhall 207 shared 4 goals which means that Westhall will finish bottom in their debut season. Finally Earsham collected 3 points in their 5-1 win at Factory Arms.

Tonight sees the John Moore Shield final at Crown Meadow as Bungay Town A take on Hopton White Hart. KO is 6.30pm and all support is welcome.

Finally the league would like to welcome application from new teams wishing to enter the league for the 2008/09 season. Interested clubs should phone league secretary Mike Johnson on 01502 565518 as a matter of course so register your interest.
