League Report 01st November.

This week the first round of the leagues two cup competitions took place and there were some intriguing matches in the KO Cup with some close results.

Holders Hearts of Oak faced their former Reserve side FC Hearts and edged through by a 3-2 scoreline.

Norton Athletic in the midst of some bad form looked to be facing defeat once more as Kirkley & Pakefield A raced into a 2-0 lead with a Daley Palmer brace. Norton though fought back to level before the break (D Hoadley & A Boggis) before left back Steve Moore drilled in the winner from a corner.

The most exciting match seemed to be at the Denes High School as inform Waveney Res faced Wrentham. Wrentham seemed to be cruising into the second round as they had a 3-1 scoreline ( J McGrain 2 & O.G) but Waveney hit back to force extra time, during which they scored 3 more goals to run out 6-3 winners. Ray Winney helping himself to a hattrick.

Pakefield Re-United are having a fine season so far and they knocked out first division Sole bay Res 4-1 which included a hat-trick for Michaskli.

The leaders of the second division Ole Frank too first division Pot Black all they way and the match seemed destined for penalties before PB snatched a last gasp goal to win 3-2.

Corton White Horse Seltic won a 7 goal thriller at Ellingham 4-3.

Beccles Caxton Res. defeated Corton A 3-1 and Lowestoft International won by the same score in their tie with Waveney Gunners. Finally Hopton White Hart & Tudor FC received walkovers as their opponents Oulton Broad & Notley’s Res and Oxford Arms Res. had to call off.

Onto the John Moore Shield and the divisions leading sides all had comfortable wins. GT Yarmouth Town Hall beat Earsham 5-0, Harleston Town Res. won 4-0 at Factory Arms and Suffolk Punch ran out 6-1 winners at marquis of Lorne.

Westhall edged past Blundeston Magpies Res. 2-1 whilst Kirkley & Pakefield B needed penalties to defeat Corton White Horse Seltic Res after the match finished 4-4.
Due to the cups only two league matches were played and both saw wins for Spexhall as the first team defeated Oxford Arms 7-1 and the Reserves beat Waveney A 3-0.
